Mia says she especially likes the illustrations from Heather Nichols, one of which is featured above. She also likes the idea of combining a sporty dog with a kids’ soccer team. Michael, co-author of “Bash and Lucy Fetch Confidence,” is unusually quiet in this video. He doesn’t want to brag about how much he contributed to this book! However, in his other kids’ book reviews on youtube, he generally has strong opinions about dog picture books. If you subscribe to his youtube channel, you can watch all his kids’ book reviews!

In “Bash and Lucy Fetch Confidence,” talkative Bash has a big problem in soccer: his dog Lucy, who is a pro at nabbing the ball—sometimes at the wrong moment. Coach wants to ban Lucy from soccer practice and games. But Lucy has lots to teach the coach and players about sports, friendship—and life! Can Bash talk the coach into letting Lucy stay? The book teaches kids about the magical connection between children and dogs–through the eyes of two boys on a soccer team.

In an upcoming video and blog, we interview Heather Nichols, the talented illustrator of this dog picture book. Heather is a Portland freelance illustrator who always dreamed of illustrating a children’s book. This is her first children’s book.
Nice book review, Mia! And you too, Michael — it looks like you both had fun making this video!
