Kid Book Reviews By Michael: Good Dog Carl
Watch Michael with friend Mia review the book here:
In this video, Michael, co-author of the dog picture book, “Bash and Lucy Fetch Confidence,” does a kid book review of “Good Dog Carl,” along with his friend, Mia, who is 13. Michael has strong opinions about books–especially dog books–and shares them in this blog and on youtube. His reviews are helpful to parents of children age 4 to 8. “Good Dog Carl,” he says, is especially great because there are few words, so you can use your imagination and make up your own words. He also says that “Good Dog Carl” is really funny. You’ll have to watch his video to understand why he thinks this dog book is so funny!
Michael helped his mom write “Bash and Lucy Fetch Confidence,” which is about a talkative boy who brings his dog, Lucy, to soccer practices. Coach wants to ban Lucy from practices and games, but Lucy has much to teach the kids about sports, teamwork–and life!

Good Dog Carl is one of my favorite dog books! It can never be read the same way twice, because of details in the illustrations that you keep finding. There is also a mixture of love and silliness that I find endearing.
Yes, Good Dog Carl is such a great dog picture book! It is one of Michael’s favorites, and, as he says in the video, he likes the fact that there are very few words so he can make up the story as he goes!
